Angular vs React 2022 Which is Better?

Updated

AngularJS is a JavaScript framework that allows developers to build single-page web apps with the concept of models, views and controllers.

React is a JavaScript library that also allows developers to build single-page web apps with the concept of react components. They both allow for simple and efficient rendering.

This post will compare these two frameworks so you can choose which one works better for your website's underlying architecture. I’ll prep you on the terms used in these architectural diagrams before we get started! Let's dive in!

In this blog post, we take a closer look at Angular vs React by comparing them on some important aspects such as support, community, and performance/speed.

What is AngularJS?

AngularJS is a JavaScript framework developed by Google. It allows developers to create web applications and also helps in creating single-page applications. It's a MVC framework based on HTML, CSS and JavaScript which uses model, view and controller concept. AngularJS uses dependency injection which reduces the usage of boilerplate code.

Here are some of the most important features of Angular:

  1. Two-way data binding feature - This enables bi-directional data flowing between view and model. It automatically synchronizes the model with the view whenever something changes in either one of them without reloading the whole page!

  2. Model - The model is the main object which is used to store data that will be used in the view. Javascript objects should be used to represent your data.

  3. View - View is a presentation layer of your application that typically shows the template and the logic related to it. Here, you can write HTML code, styles, and javascript code that will be evaluated when you navigate through the pages of your application. A part of this view can also display data from the model in a view-model way as shown below:

  4. Controller - The controller handles all interactions between views and models by updating the views according to requirements set by the controller itself.

What is React?

React is a JavaScript library that allows developers to create rich and interactive user interfaces using JavaScript instead of HTML. It also uses the concept of view, model and controller when it comes to building an application. The main benefit of using React over AngularJS is that it has no async/await which adds more convenience to your application development process. It also supports one-way data binding and two-way data binding, making the framework fully synchronous and non-blocking! Here are some of the most important features of React:

Here are some of the most important features of React:

  1. Virtual DOM - This lets you update and re-render the entire or part of your page as data changes rapidly in your application.

  2. Model - The subject is the model. The View is assigned to it via the attach method, and the View is updated with the new counter value via notify via the increment counter function.

  3. View - The View gives the user a helpful representation of the Model. When a user presses the actual button, the incrementBtnClick method is called, but the View doesn't have any logic; it only registers the DOM elements.

  4. Controller - Understanding user interactions, the Controller transforms them into commands directed at the Model. When the Controller is initialized, it creates an instance of the Model, attaches it to the Model, and calls the handleIncrementBtnClick function on the created View instance.

Let's start by highlighting the key differences between Angular vs React 2022.

- Performance

The primary distinction between Angular vs React is that React heavily relies on JavaScript while Angular mostly employs improved HTML.

Since HTML is a web markup language, it loads faster when a browser renders a web page. JavaScript, on the other hand, makes pages load more slowly.

The placement of any scripts near the bottom of the page is typically advised because of this. Many WordPress plugins for JavaScript optimization are available in an effort to speed up your website's performance.

When creating your online application, it's crucial to consider SEO elements in addition to user experience.

Angular might be a better choice in this case. However, React will undoubtedly result in faster development.

  • Data Binding

This means that in AngularJS, altering a UI element will also alter the state of the accompanying model. On the other hand, if you alter the model state, the UI element will also alter. One-way data binding, on the other hand, updates the model state initially before rendering the change in the UI element.

The catch is that altering the UI element will not alter the model state; you must ascertain this for yourself. Many developers agree that the two-way data binding method used by Angular is initially simpler.

However, managing UI elements and model states becomes increasingly challenging as the complexity and scope of your project grow. when projects grow larger and more complex, reaction is more advantageous, making them

- Community

There are significant disparities between Angular vs React respective Github repositories in terms of the number of contributions and interactions.

The number of viewers, stars, forks, and contributors in each GitHub repository is summarised statistically below.

  • Compared to Angular, React attracted 6.7 thousand viewers.
  • React has 151 thousand stars, whereas Angular has 62 thousand, which is less than half of what React has.
  • Angular's Github project has been forked 16.9 thousand times compared to React's 29.4 thousand forks.
  • React received 1,390 contributions in 2020, while Angular received 1,129.

Wrap up

Both React and Angular have many similar features as well as some significant differences. React allows a small team of developers or designers to work on little projects, but Angular allows for a larger team to work more productively and fast.

However, since both frameworks are dynamic, it is difficult to predict where they will go. The blog post on Angular vs React helps you decide which one is best for your project.
